Bottle Rocket

Wes Anderson's 1st full-length motion picture, Bottle Rocket, is thoroughly disliked by my wife, b/c she says, "it's stupid." The same could be said for all of his movies. Man, I love 'em, and so does she......

"Anderson has a fine sense of how music works against an image....I love the scene in Bottle Rocket when Owen Wilson's character, Dignan, says, 'They'll never catch me, man, 'cause I'm fuckin' innocent.' Then he runs off to save one of his partners in crime and gets captured by the police, over '2000 Man' by the Rolling Stones. He - and the music - are proclaiming who he really is: he's not innocent in the eyes of the law, but he's truly an innocent. For me, it's a transcendent moment. And transcendent moments are in short supply these days."

Down Goes United!

After a 4-0 thrashing in the last league encounter and a 3-0 beat down in the FA Cup (is that backwards? Can't remember...), Fulham did the unthinkable and took down Manchester United at Craven Cottage. In the 1st half, Paul Scholes had the key moment of the game blocking a Bobby Zamora header off a Simon Davies corner with both of his hands (SEE ABOVE). He was immediatley shown the Red Card and the Exit. Danny Murphy netted the ensuing penalty with little trouble. A man down, Man U continued to look out of sorts. The boys at the back (Hangeland, Hughes, and Schwarzer) were rock solid and have been all season. With the Cottagers on the edge of their seat in the 87th minute, Zoltan Gera put the nail in the coffin with the 2nd goal for Fulham. Frustration bioled over for Wayne Rooney as he tossed the ball away in disgust. He was then presented with his 2nd yellow card - and thus, sent off and will miss their next match. Way to go you Whites and all praise to Roy Hodgson for his steady climb with the club.
